Planetarium Show Information
During the school year, three public planetarium shows will be presented each week. The first show will be at 4pm on Thursday
and the other two will be on Friday night; the first at 5:30pm and the second at 7pm. Shows will last one hour.
Tickets may be purchased up to 3 weeks in advance. The planetarium has a capacity of 52 seats, and seating is not guaranteed
without a pre-purchased ticket.
Seating begins 15 minutes prior to show times and shows will begin on time. In consideration of others, please plan accordingly.
Tickets are $6 for adults and $3 for CCS students and anyone 18 or under.
No food or beverages are allowed in the planetarium
There are four shows, approximately one hour in length, that rotate throughout the month. Three of the shows will begin with an introduction to observing the
seasonal night sky. The presenter will show which planets, stars and constellations can be seen during the current night sky,
and will provide background information on the currently visible celestial objects. The second part of these shows will feature
a 20-25 minute movie that plays over the entire surface of the dome (full-dome). As time permits, a question and answer period
will be included at the end of each show.
The fourth show does not feature a full-dome movie. This show, titled "The Night Sky", will feature a guided tour of the night
sky, demonstrating the location of stars and constellations visible throughout the year. This program will also cover
astronomical concepts such as patterns of motion in the sky, moon phases, solar and lunar eclipses, and seasonal changes.
There will be a question and answer period at the end of the show.
