Photography
Ira joined the full time teaching staff at SFCC in 1998. His professional background includes having been a commercial and portrait photographer, graphic designer, and a nationally recognized studio management software developer and consultant.

"After spending the first five years of my career doing commercial projects I discovered that photographing people was more rewarding for me because I was creating images that brought joy for a lifetime."

Teaching portraiture, digital imaging, and business practices at SFCC has been a homecoming of sorts, as Ira studied photography here and received an A.A. degree and then went on to complete a B.A. in Communications and Journalism at Eastern Washington University.

With over 20 years of teaching experience at SFCC, Rodger has worked professionally as a still photographer and a documentary filmmaker.

Having spent a significant amount of time creating interpretive programs for the forest service Rodger particularly enjoys teaching nature and landscape photography.and has been responsible for introducing the joys of black & white and color photography to literally thousands of students!

After spending over 25 years operating a commercial studio in Spokane, Richard Heinzen and his wife built their dream home in Bayview Idaho. For much of the last 10 years Richard has devoted his energies to large format stock photography. He is currently represented by SuperStock and does a wide variety of assignment work and travel photography.

With a tremendous variety of work experience ranging from corporate advertising, books and brochures, Richard will be assisting our 2nd year students with portfolio development.

Photo Appreciation
A retired military officer, Greg has studied and photographed all over the world. He holds a masters degree in philosophy and has taught philosophy, photography, and computer programming classes. Greg has also worked in digital imaging for the last 15 years.

Greg is currently running our adult non credit continuing education program two nights a week.
