Valorie's background is in financial management. She was the Corporate Credit Manager at Columbia Paint &
Coatings Co, in Spokane Washington and was employed by Columbia for 22 years. She served as Chairman of
the Board for the National Association of Credit Management Inland Northwest Association in 1994. While
serving on the board, she also participated in the Credit and Financial Development Division, Spokane
chapter. Valorie served as their President twice; once in 1986 and again in 1990. She has done a number of
local and regional presentations on credit and related topics. Valorie has also been a speaker at the
National Credit Congress.
Valorie received an A.A.S. degree in Credit and Financial Management from Spokane Falls Community College
in 1988. In the fall of 1988, she became an adjunct instructor for the Management department. In 1994, she
completed her Bachelor of Arts degree in Liberal Studies from Eastern Washington University. Her masters
degree is a Masters of Science degree in Communications from Eastern Washington University. Her thesis was
"The Relationship Between Business Cultures and Written Credit Policy."
Courses taught by Valorie at Spokane Falls include: Financial Statement Analysis, Introduction to Finance,
Business Credit Principles, Money Management, Doing Business on the Internet, eBusiness, Customer Service,
Team Leadership Skills, Business Math, Introduction to Business, Principles of Management and Principles of
Leadership. Valorie has also been an advisor for Delta Epsilon Chi, the college division of DECA.
Valorie also teaches at Whitworth College, in the Communication Studies department. She teaches Introduction
to Public Speaking. In addition to this job, she also is employed by Embroidered Sportswear, in Spokane, as
their bookkeeper. She does the company's accounts payable and receivable as well as other accounting duties.
A native of Spokane, she graduated from East Valley High School. She has two sons and enjoys her
grandchildren. Husband Jack and Valorie enjoy hiking, kayaking, traveling and gardening for interests other
than school.
