Hearing Instrument Specialist

Spokane Falls Community College offers a two-year program to prepare hearing instrument specialists for immediate employment in hearing health care establishments. After successful completion of the program, all state educational requirements (Washington State Department of Health) will have been satisfied as a duly authorized "Hearing Instrument Fitter/Dispenser." Hearing instrument specialists find a variety of professional experiences available to them, including independent contracted employment, professional consulting establishment ownership and technical support of related professions.

Orthotics & Prosthetics

The primary objective is to train technicians knowledgeable in general laboratory procedures, woodworking, metal, leather, plastic and plaster to assemble components with the skill that the profession requires. Orthotics-prosthetics is one of today’s rapidly growing health-related professions. There are many job opportunities in hospitals and private facilitates locally, across the country and in foreign countries. A certificate is awarded at the completion of the orthotics program and at the completion of the prosthetics program. An A.A.S. degree in orthotics-prosthetics technician is granted to students who successfully complete both programs.

Physical Therapist Assistant

SFCC offers a two-year program to prepare physical therapist assistants for immediate employment in physical therapy facilities. The program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education of the American Physical Therapy Association, but is not designed to transfer to four-year schools. Physical therapist assistants work under the supervision of a physical therapist. Physical therapy practitioners work with the entire spectrum of the patient population and are employed in a wide variety of settings, including hospitals and medical centers, rehabilitation centers, pediatric facilities or schools systems, private physical therapy clinics, home health care agencies, convalescent centers and extended care facilities.
