Benefits Veterans May Receive at SFCC

What Chapter are you?

  • Chapter 30 (Regular active duty - joined 7/1/85 to present)
  • Chapter 31 (Vocational Rehabilitation – see your Voc Rehab counselor for appropriate paperwork)
  • Chapter 33 (Post 9/11)
  • Chapter 35 (Dependents - parent/spouse veteran, 100% service connected disabled or service connected death)
  • Chapter 1606 (Guard/reserve - not deployed)
  • Chapter 1607 (Guard/reserve - deployed at least 90 consecutive days or more)

First Time Applicants

Chapter 30, 33, 35, 1606, 1607
  1. Apply online for your benefits with the VA at VONAPP.
Chapter 30
  1. Office forms: Veteran Reporting Form, Veterans Student information Authorization, and Checklist
Chapter 31
  1. Contact your Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor
Chapter 33 (Post 9-11)
  1. Certificate of Eligibility from the VA with percentage of benefits eligible to receive
  2. Office forms: Veteran Reporting Form, Veterans Student information Authorization, and Checklist
  3. Veteran Payment Contract
  4. Veteran Student Attendance Report (must be done every quarter)
Chapter 35 (dependents)
  1. Certificate of Eligibility from the VA for education benefits
  2. Copy of Parent/Spouse Disability Paperwork from VA (showing 100% disability) Death Certificate if Parent/Spouse is deceased
  3. Copy of Drivers License of Parent/Spouse for Washington residents
  4. Office forms: Veteran Reporting Form, Veterans Student information Authorization, and Checklist
Chapter 1606
  1. Copy of NOBE (Notice of Basic Eligibility form from the unit education officer)
  2. Office forms: Veteran Reporting Form, Veterans Student information Authorization, and Checklist

NOTE: After SFCC processes your application, it is forwarded electronically to the VA Regional Office in Muskogee, OK for further processing. New applications may take 6-8 weeks to process after receipt by the VA. Apply early.

Returning Applicants

Returning applicants have previously applied for GI bill benefits, are changing colleges or program of study and/or previously received benefits.
  1. SFCC Returning applicants who used benefits during the last academic year Veteran Reporting Form
  2. All other returning applicants – all Chapters – Complete the Veteran Reporting form and meet with one of the staff in the SFCC Veterans Office.

Process Completion

Return all forms to the SFCC Veterans Affairs Office located in Building 17, upper concourse.
