Red Nations Student Association
The Red Nations Student Association was formed in 1996. Its mission is to focus on Native American culture and beliefs.
Native cultural speakers and programs are sponsored throughout the year. These activities provide diversity and an
understanding of Native American culture to the campus as a whole. Fundraisers are also held to raise funds for the
annual conference and Pow Wow, which is the largest activity sponsored by the Red Nations. Officers are elected each
year to help organize all of the activities.
Black Student Union (BSU)
The Black Student Union was formed in the fall of 1996. The BSU has charged itself with the duty of bringing
understanding and appreciation of the African American culture through special cultural, educational and social events.
One of the BSU’s largest and best attended programs is the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration Luncheon held in
January of each year in honor of Dr. King’s birthday. Election of officers is held at the beginning of fall quarter.
All interested students are encouraged to be part of the association.
Latinos Unidos Association (LUA)
The Latinos Unidos de Aztlan (LUA) has a mission to focus on Latino customs and the culture. Through education and
experience we hope that an understanding and appreciation of our culture is achieved. Since the start of this
association in the winter of 1998 we have been very successful in our goals. Our sponsorship of the Cinco de Mayo
Celebration is not only enjoyed and praised with the students and staff at the fall, but the children at the Early
Childhood Center have been able to join the fun. We encourage everybody to come and join the club and learn more about
this beautiful culture!
Asian American Club
The Asian American Club was formed in 2008. Our goals are to promote awareness and appreciation of Asian and Asian
American culture, to act as a resource for students and faculty, and to provide a comfortable setting for social
interaction which in turn helps unify and strengthen the Asian American community on the SFCC campus. Welcome all to
join our club!
