American college and university women students have a unique opportunity to immerse
themselves in intensive Japanese Culture Studies at Mukogawa Women's University
(MWU) in Spokane's sister city, Nishinomiya, Japan. This summer program is offered
through MWU, and Mukogawa Fort Wright Institute coordinates the program. Any female
students currently enrolled full-time in a university or college are welcome to
participate. While no previous study of the Japanese language is required, applicants
should demonstrate a sincere interest in the study of Japanese culture and commitment
to this program. Participants receive a generous scholarship for tuition, home stay
and study-related expenses, but are responsible for roundtrip airfare, program fee
