American college and university women students have a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in intensive Japanese Culture Studies at Mukogawa Women's University (MWU) in Spokane's sister city, Nishinomiya, Japan. This summer program is offered through MWU, and Mukogawa Fort Wright Institute coordinates the program. Any female students currently enrolled full-time in a university or college are welcome to participate. While no previous study of the Japanese language is required, applicants should demonstrate a sincere interest in the study of Japanese culture and commitment to this program. Participants receive a generous scholarship for tuition, home stay and study-related expenses, but are responsible for roundtrip airfare, program fee and personal (transportation and incidental) expenses.
