Degrees and Certificates Offered
Community college programs serve two basic student populations: students planning
to transfer to a four-year institution, and students looking for short-term job
training or retraining. Transfer students choose between the
Associate of Arts Degree, also referred to as the liberal arts transfer degree,
or the Associate of Science Transfer Degree
designed for students whose career goals are within science or engineering disciplines.
There are also a growing
number of Direct Transfer degrees
and other
articulation agreements between SFCC and four-year institutions, some of which are listed below.
Career and Technical Programs are designed primarily
for short-term job training. Most of these
courses are also transferable; however, the programs may not meet all the requirements
of four-year institutions offering degrees in the same major. AAS-T programs are designed to provide transfer opportunities
for students desiring to continue on towards achieving a baccalaureate degree at specific four-year institutions.
Consult with an adviser regarding the transfer requirements for a specific college or university.
Certificate programs require as little as three quarters of classes.
Associate of Applied Science degrees are awarded upon completion of approximately
six quarters of course work.
