The Certificate of Fine Arts (C.F.A.) affirms completion of work and is suitable
for art professionals, but is not a transfer certificate. However, the courses are
above 100 and are listed in many catalogs for four-year colleges and universities.
Most courses will transfer. The program can be completed in two years. To develop
a better assimilation of concepts and skills, a longer time span may be suggested
for some students.
Each C.F.A. student is assigned an art adviser who helps plan his or her program.
Students must submit a portfolio and participate in an exhibition during their final
quarter. A candidate for a certificate in fine arts must complete a minimum of 96-100
quarter hours with a grade point average of 2.0 or better. The art adviser and art
faculty will work with and evaluate the work of the student before final approval
and recommendation to award the certificate in fine arts.
