The A.S.T. degree program's curriculum is designed to meet most lower-division requirements of various science and engineering disciplines; it is not designed to meet Associate of Arts (A.A.) degree requirements. An A.A. degree has no professional recognition in the engineering field. There are three A.S.T. degree programs, each with a different emphasis.

Engineering

Engineering is the profession in which a knowledge of the mathematical and natural sciences, gained by study, experience, and practice, is applied to economically use the materials and forces of nature for the benefit of society. The two-year engineering program at SFCC is intended to prepare the student for transfer to a four-year engineering college at the junior level.
