SCC Security

The SFCC Security department was established as an independent campus security department on July 1, 2006. The newly established department needed a way to convey a professional authoritative presence and give students, employees, and visitors a way to easily identify Security. The heritage of Fort George Wright and the spirit of Spokane Falls Community College were combined to design a security insignia for the SFCC Security Department.

On January 1, 2007, SFCC Security was granted approval to start the transition from a staff of security officers to a staff of Officers with Special Police Commissions and the new insignia for the department was adopted with no opposition.

Recognized now as the Office of Campus Safety, this department oversees all aspects of campus security, traffic management and emergency management operations for the SFCC campus as well as the CCS Institute for Extended Learning locations. The jurisdiction of the SFCC OCS has grown from the 125 acres of the SFCC campus, to include off-campus locations covering a six county radius from the campus, much like that of the original Fort George Wright installation.

In July of 2013, the SFCC Office of Campus Safety and the SCC Office of Campus Safety joined together to form the CCS Office of Campus Safety. The CCS Office of Campus Safety is now a District function, with individual offices on each campus.
