Mission

Spokane Falls Community College meets the needs of our community by advancing student achievement through quality, accessible learning opportunities that embrace diversity, promote equity, and foster global awareness.

Core Themes

We fulfill our mission through five core themes:

SFCC faculty, students, and administration commit to excellence in instruction and learning.

Vision

SFCC is an educational leader and partner with the community and region in providing flexible, responsive programs of the highest quality. Our faculty and staff are dedicated to student success, cultural enrichment and lifelong learning in a student-centered environment that encourages personal and professional growth.


2008-2013 Strategic Goals

Clock Tower PROVIDE ACCESS
  1. Provide all students access to instruction, support services, and technological resources.
  2. Meet the diverse educational needs of all students through a variety of programs, multiple teaching/learning/delivery methodologies, and diverse course offerings.
  3. Cultivate strategies to reduce financial barriers that inhibit student success.
ENSURE PROGRAM QUALITY AND RELEVANCE
  1. Ensure the quality and relevance of programs and services by actively engaging in continuous improvement.
  2. Support faculty and staff through professional development.
FOSTER STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT
  1. Facilitate students’ seamless transitions from high school to our institution, within our programs, to baccalaureate institutions, and to chosen professions.
  2. Provide opportunities for students to achieve personal enrichment goals.
  3. Deliver high-quality learning opportunities, academic services, academic consulting, and co-curricular activities for all students, especially those in their first year.
  4. Support students placed in developmental courses to achieve their educational goals.
  5. Develop and implement strategies to improve students’ completion of their degrees and certificates.
  6. Improve the transfer rate for all students acquiring associate transfer degrees.
PROVIDE A SAFE, SUPPORTIVE LEARNING AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT
  1. Foster and promote a safe, affirming, and healthy learning and working environment.
  2. Provide opportunities for all voices to be heard and valued.
ADVANCE DIVERSITY
  1. Cultivate an appreciation for diversity among students, faculty, and staff.
  2. Ensure equity among students, faculty, and staff.
  3. Increase the diversity of the student body, faculty, and staff.
COMMUNICATE EFFECTIVELY
  1. Promote and underscore the relevance of SFCC’s wide range of educational programs and available community resources throughout our regional community.
  2. Provide timely and effective exchange of information among faculty, staff, and students within the college and throughout the district.
OPERATE EFFICIENTLY AS A COLLEGE
  1. Implement collaborative, student-centered strategies to strengthen the efficiency of instructional programs, student support services, and administrative services.
  2. Provide inclusive, responsive, decisive, and effective administrative direction.
  3. Infuse appropriate technological innovations in all college operations.
USE FINANCIAL RESOURCES EFFECTIVELY
  1. Manage resources efficiently and responsibly to support operations, programs, and facilities.
  2. Allocate resources based on continuous improvement and strategic plans.
PLAN FOR THE FUTURE
  1. Advance the values of justice, service, and engagement in the community.
  2. Incorporate and contribute to industry-standard and emerging equipment and technologies.
  3. Foster and support sustainable environmental practices throughout our college and community.
  4. Seek additional, alternative, and sustainable funding.
RESPOND TO REGIONAL AND LOCAL COMMUNITY NEEDS
  1. Build strong, collaborative partnerships with business, community, government, education and human service organizations throughout our region.
  2. Respond quickly to changing educational, training, social, and employment needs.
