Congratulations 2015 Spokane Falls Community College Graduates!

This is an exciting time for each of you and your families. Whether you plan to continue with your education or enter or continue in a career, please take time to stop and reflect on your accomplishments. Graduation is the first milestone of all of your hard work. Please celebrate how you replaced the apprehension that you may have felt entering our classes for the first time with focus and determination. Step back, take a breath and be proud of what you have completed.

We know that for you this is only the beginning. With a degree from Spokane Falls Community College, you are prepared well for the next steps of your life. Thank you for choosing Spokane Falls Community College and best of luck as you continue down the yellow-brick road!

Dr. Darren Pitcher joined Spokane Falls as the Vice President of Student Services on August 1, 2012, after serving in a similar capacity at Miles Community College in Miles City, Montana since 2004.

As Vice President of Student Success and Institutional Research at Miles Community College, Darren was responsible for the student services division, marketing, athletics and facilities.

At SFCC, Darren's focus and energy have been devoted to leading an experienced team of student services professionals. Darren has also lent his expertise on matters regarding facilities, enrollment management, the Behavior Intervention Team (BIT) and Title IX.

Darren has a Doctorate of Education with an emphasis in Community College Leadership from Fielding Graduate University (FGU). A Master of Arts in Organizational Management from Fielding Graduate University, a Bachelor of Arts in Organizational Communications from Montana State University-Billings and an Associate of Science degree from Miles Community College. He served in the U.S. Air Force (1986-1990) and was assigned to the 57th Fighter Weapons Wing at Nellis AFB, Las Vegas, Nevada.

Dr. Pitcher is an accreditation evaluator for the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities, is a member of the Washington State Student Services Commission, serves on the Executive Board for the Northwest Athletic Conference and is a 2014 graduate of Leadership Spokane.

Darren and his wife Jennifer have been married for 16 years and have three daughters; Khyrsten, Kamryn, and Liv.

  • SFCC President's Scholar Medal - SFCC graduates wearing the President's Scholar Medal have achieved a cumulative 4.0 grade point average.

  • Gold Honor Cord - SFCC graduates wearing the gold honor cord have achieved high academic standards and are recognized by placement on the President's Honor Roll. These graduates achieved a cumulative 3.5 or higher grade point average.

  • Gold Honors Stole/Monogrammed Tassel - SFCC graduates wearing the gold honor stole are members of the Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society of the Two-year College. These graduates have achieved academic standards mandated by the Spokane Falls Community College Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa. The SFCC chapter of Phi Theta Kappa does not supply PTK honor cords, stoles or tassels. Students who want these can order them from Phi Theta Kappa Store online at store.ptk.org/graduation/regalia.html.

  • Americana Cord – SFCC graduates wearing the red, white and blue cord are veterans of the United States Armed Forces.
