We want you to know that the Veterans Benefits Office, located in Building 17, is here to help you meet your educational goals. Benefits Veterans May Receive at SFCC

Visit SFCC's Veterans Resource Center (VRC)!

Located in Building 2, Room 001, Hours: M-F 8:30AM – 2:30PM.

The VRC is the perfect place to get away from the crowds and have a quiet place to study, relax or visit with fellow veterans. Computers, comfortable couches and fresh coffee are available.

The VRC is staffed by a VetCorps member who is knowledgeable of ALL the local resources available for a veteran and their family. If you are facing eviction, utility shut-off notice, problems with faculty, staff, or students on campus, getting connected with readjustment counselors and VA healthcare – you name it and VetCorps is available for you.

What Chapter are you?

  • Chapter 30 (Regular active duty - joined 7/1/85 to present)
  • Chapter 31 (Vocational Rehabilitation – see your Voc Rehab counselor for appropriate paperwork)
  • Chapter 33 (Post 9/11)
  • Chapter 35 (Dependents - parent/spouse veteran, 100% service connected disabled or service connected death)
  • Chapter 1606 (Guard/reserve - not deployed)
  • Chapter 1607 (Guard/reserve - deployed at least 90 consecutive days or more)

First Time Applicants

Please visit us if using VA education benefits is new for you. The process to receive benefits is complicated and confusing – we are here to help guide you through the entire process. Below are steps you can complete now.

REMEMBER – Priority deadline is 30 days from the beginning of the quarter!

All paperwork needs to be completed within 30 days before the quarter begins to ensure military/veteran students will receive their benefits on time. Military/Veteran students who submit paperwork after the deadline will STILL be served, but payments from the VA will be delayed.

Please start your enrollment process EARLY!

Chapters 30, 33, 35:

  1. Apply online for your VA education benefits at:
    • VONAPP.
    • SAVE the CONFIRMATION number when you submit! In approximately 6 weeks, the VA will mail a "Certificate of Eligibility." Our office needs this certificate to certify you for your education benefits.
  2. Apply for Admission, Financial Aid, Placement Testing and New Student Orientation at the

  1. Contact your VA Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor: (509) 434-7750, located in Bldg. 6A at Spokane VAMC

Chapters 1606, 1607

  1. Apply online for your VA education benefits at:
    • VONAPP.

NOTE: After SFCC processes your application, it is forwarded electronically to the VA Regional Office in Muskogee, Oklahoma for further processing. New applications may take 6-8 weeks to process after receipt by the VA. Apply early.

Returning Applicants

Returning applicants have previously applied for GI bill benefits, are changing colleges or program of study and/or previously received benefits
  1. SFCC Returning students who used benefits during the last academic year
    • Please submit an updated Veteran Reporting Form
